I want to take a minute to talk about something I recommend for almost everyone, including kids—clarifying shampoo.
What is clarifying shampoo?
Think of it as a deep-clean for your hair. It’s designed to remove buildup from products, hard water minerals, chlorine, and excess oil—basically anything your regular shampoo leaves behind. It gives your hair and scalp a much-needed reset.
Why you need it:
Products like dry shampoo, leave-in conditioners, detanglers, and even regular conditioner can build up on and inside of the hair. That can make it feel heavy, look dull, get greasy faster, or feel like it never really gets clean.
NOTE TO PARENTS!!
Due to the daily use of detangler sprays, swimming, and even just regular conditioner children's fine hair can often become coated over time.
If your child’s hair is starting to:
Feel extra tangly
Look unusually shiny in a coated way
Or even starts to resemble doll hair—smooth and sticky on the surface but matted underneath
....It’s likely from product buildup.
That buildup makes brushing a nightmare, and no matter how often you wash, the hair still doesn’t feel “right.” A clarifying shampoo, even if used just once or twice a month, can gently strip away all that residue and bring their natural texture back to life—so brushing becomes easier and their hair feels soft and clean again.
How (and when) to use it:
Once a week or every other week is perfect for most hair types.
Even once a month will help!
Work it through the roots and lengths, then rinse well.
Always follow with a conditioner to keep the hair soft and hydrated.
