Ever brush your scalp before washing your hair? If not, you’re missing out on a simple, soothing game-changer—especially if you deal with dry patches or scalp psoriasis.

This easy pre-wash ritual helps exfoliate flakes, soothe irritation, and prep your scalp so your shampoo can really get to work. It’s like clearing the path for a clean, calm, and hydrated scalp.

Why It Works (Especially for Dry, Flaky, or Psoriasis-Prone Scalps):

  • Gently lifts flakes and dead skin – great for dry scalp and psoriasis patches

  • Stimulates blood flow – encourages healing and healthy hair growth

  • Spreads natural oils – helps hydrate tight, dry areas naturally

  • Reduces buildup – clears product residue that can aggravate sensitive scalps

  • Helps calm itching – brushing can relieve that “must scratch now” feeling

How to Do It (Quick & Easy):

  1. Pick the right brush – Use firm, dense bristles (natural or synthetic)

  2. Section your hair – Makes it easier to cover the whole scalp

  3. Brush gently but firmly at the scalp – Use a rolling motion, like a mini massage

  4. Brush down to the ends – This moves oils and smooths strands

  5. Switch directions – Go front to back, side to side, to hit every spot

  6. Take your time – 5–10 minutes of self-care is all it takes

Then shampoo like usual. Your scalp will be cleaner, calmer, and way more comfortable—no harsh scrubs or extra products needed.

Bottom Line: If you deal with scalp psoriasis, flakiness, or stubborn dry patches, brushing before washing is a gentle, effective fix that’s been hiding in plain sight. Try it a few times a week and see how much better your scalp (and hair) can feel.

Happy brushing—your scalp will thank you!
