Not All Shampoos Are Created Equal (Your Hair Will Tell You That!)

Ever notice how some people can eat cake every day and their skin still looks amazing? Meanwhile, the rest of us just look at sugar and our face files a complaint. Hair products are kind of the same way.
A client of mine recently came in with very brittle hair. She’d been trying a new “highly rated" and purportedly "healthy” shampoo-and-conditioner set. On the surface? Hair looked shiny and sleek. But underneath (and especially obvious when wet), it was a different story.
One of the ingredients that can work great for thick, coarse hair was quietly drying out the inside of her fine strands. So while her hair looked good for a minute, it was actually weaker and more prone to breakage. Fine hair just can’t always handle the same treatments as coarse hair—even if the bottle promises miracles.
We gave her some options and got her switched to a set that nourishes the hair from the inside out, and she's now looking forward to stronger, healthier strands that aren’t pretending to be shiny. Crisis averted!
The moral of the story: Your hair is unique. Your products should be too. Just because something works for your friend, your sister, or even that influencer on Instagram doesn’t mean it’s the right match for you.
So if your hair isn’t loving your shampoo, don’t panic. It’s not “bad”—it’s just waiting for the right formula to come along. And that match? Totally exists.
